Integrating with SAP for Accelerated Batch Disposition Process

My name is Tracey Dahl, I’m the manager of Centralized Document Management at Upsher Smith Laboratories. We have 650 employees, and we really concentrate on patients and bringing them quality generics. We’ve faced a lot of cumbersome processes, paper processes, multiple sources of information, and we really wanted to look at combining those things.

Some of the things we were looking for in a quality solution were things that were user friendly, scalable, flexible. We wanted to be able to combine our processes together, such as our CAPAs and our deviations and complaints so that we could pull all of those different quality events together.

The reason we chose Veeva applications for our solution was that we wanted to ensure we had a platform across functionality. We wanted a very user-friendly interface. We wanted to have our solution to have the ability to integrate with SAP. That really drives our manufacturing processes, and we wanted our users to be able to be collaborative on those events, Veeva allows that collaboration.

The quality QMS integrates with the rims, and this allows for annual reporting information to be easily accessible. Some of the benefits that we’ve realized already are the self-sufficient users, the training is super easy, our users have told us is that it’s super easy, it’s so much different than the old system.

We integrated our Veeva with SAP, so that we have visibility to all of our batch releases and thus increased our compliance. The integration has helped with making sure we’ve got the right information, eliminated any errors and has helped with production. The batch disposition process is now faster.
